How body fat percentage is estimated

DXA (DEXA)

Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scans the body and can separate bone, fat, and lean mass in more detail than BMI. It is generally more accurate for many purposes, but far less accessible and more expensive than calculating BMI, and it is not necessary for every person.
